How the video slot works
The Tome of Madness game is set on a 5×5 grid. Before you begin, choose your bet per spin with options from €0.10 up to €100. Rather than using traditional spinning reels, each time you hit play, the grid refreshes with new symbols.
There are no typical paylines in the Tome of Madness online slot. Instead, wins land when you connect a row of four or more symbols horizontally or vertically and any other connecting symbols. As you land wins, the winning symbols are removed from the grid, causing new ones to fall down. This can potentially lead to chain reaction wins and charges up the Portal meter.
The Tome of Madness bonus meter has four levels to fill up which each unlock a new bonus feature. First of all, two wilds are added to the grid for any win that involves seven symbols. These wilds substitute for other symbols, helping to form more winning combinations.
Fourteen symbols unlock the next level of the Portal meter. Two wilds are added to the grid again, only this time it will activate the Abyss feature if the wilds form a winning combination. This means that any symbols in the wilds row or column will be destroyed and will be added to the Portal meter.
The third level of the meter is unlocked by twenty-seven symbols filling the meter in one spin. This time, two wilds are added to the grid, and if they lead to a win, they’ll activate the Void feature. This causes one random symbol type to be completely removed from the grid and added to the meter.
Finally, the last level of the meter is unlocked from forty-two symbols. This will unlock the Tome of Madness free spins round, known as the Other World. In the Other World, you’ll get three different portal effects which will be used after each cascade win. For every three symbols you charge the meter with past the required forty-two, you’ll also get an additional effect, up to a maximum of seven.
